Eating at Baan Rai Cafe in Bangkok

Dec'2010 We had dinner with a group of friends at "Baan Rai Cafe" in Bangkok. It is located at the corner of Sukhumvit road and Soi Ekmai (Soi 63). So it is very easy to get there by Skytrain. Originally a rustic coffee garden to serve Tea & Coffee but they also serve a full Thai & Isaan menu. I am not sure if it is still up and running. We had a table in the open garden (which is great at this time of the year) but you could also sit inside with air-condition. In the garden is also live music (which is sometimes a bit loud). So if you like to have dinner the local Thai way, relaxing in a garden and enjoying live music then this is a great place to go.

They serve Thai food or to be more specific they serve Isaan style & Chinese style food. And of course in any garden there is fresh beer served, even in "beer towers" of 3-liter. The food was great, I always like to eat "Dried beef" (Nue Dedieuw = sun dried beef) and here the made it exactly the way I like it. A bit dry but not too dry, still warm from the final short frying and with sesame seeds. But they also have a wide range of fish and other sea-food. Together with all the drinks we did eat & drink for 350thb per person (incl. a good tip). They also have a Coffee Shop & Restaurant along route 1 near Saraburi.

Update 2018 : I think it is closed
