Chinese New Year 2011 in Thailand

I am not living in a China Town and although my neighbors are not Chinese this morning at about 5 o'clock the day started with firework, while tomorrow 3 February 2011 is the real beginning of the Chinese New Year. The new year is 4709 or 4708 or 4648, depending on the kind of various scholars. But anyway it will be the year of the Rabbit. Most of my neighbors do celebrate Chinese New Year and today after the firework the setup a table with a lot of food to offer for a good & healthy new-year. So now of course there is a lot of food and my wife just had a late breakfast (or early lunch) with the neighbors. And we are invited for a lunch with some other neighbors. In cities you will see the famous "Lion dance" shows, coming to your house. It is actually a 2 weeks celebration of new year Chinese_New_Year. So of course all Chinese have a 2 weeks holiday and the beach resort where we are living is full of Chinese from all over the region. And of course from Bangkok as well. All too busy for me. So after the western new-year and the Chinese new-year in about 2 months we will have Thai new-year (Songkran). Living in Thailand is never dull.
