Walking in Epen, a small farmer village in Netherlands

Epen in the Netherlands

Epen is a small farmer village located in the "Geuldal" about 5 km from the Belgium border. It is famous for its beautiful wooden-frame houses (vakwerk boerderijen) dating from 1700. It is part of a beautiful area in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. The natural landscape of Epen is protected as are the beautiful old farm houses. From it is a good starting point for beautiful mountain-bike trips or hikes in the forrest. And if you are by car it is a great starting point for the "Mergelland" route, going along the most beautiful scenery of this area and passing some castles. Not far from Epen is the point where Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands come together and it is also the highest point in the Netherlands.
