Having lunch at De Smidse Restaurants in Epen, Netherlands

De Smidse in Epen, Netherlands

De Smidse is marked as "mountain-shoe and backpack" friendly and you are here welcome for breakfast, lunch and dinner. As it was winter when we had lunch here, I did eat a real Dutch "erwten" soup with local made brown bread and dried ham. It was delicious and it made me feel like in the good old times when there were still real winters in the Netherlands. The restaurant is part of a old farm-house where you can also stay overnight and the dinning room is decorated in old fashioned Dutch & Limburgse style. The staff was friendly and the food was good. We did eat soup with 2 persons and had a tea & hot chocolate for drink. And the bill was under the 15 Euro.
