Tables ready for food & drink along the Mekong River in Bueng Kan

A beautiful evening in Bueng Kan along the river-front of the Meanam Khong (Mekong river) in north-east Thailand. Many small restaurants are setting up for the evening to serve food & drink.

Bueng Kan thanks its existence nowadays to the ferry-crossing to Laos (Pakxan) what is an international border crossing point. Although there is an immigration office in town the real ferry crossing for people is about 2-km west of town. And the ferry crossing for cars and motorbikes is another 2km west. This ferry is the international border crossing to Laos.

I like the little town of Bueng Kan what did give me feeling of how Chiang Khan was about 10 years ago. Although the first signs of over-developments are to be seen already. There are a few hotels like "Mae Nam Hotel" (right on the river-front) and "The One Hotel" (a brand new hotel near Tesco-Lotus).
