Staying at Dao Savan Resort & Spa in Savanakhet, Laos

Dao Savan Resort & Spa in Savanakhet, South Laos
Nov'2012 The hotel is located along the riverside and has beautiful view over the Mekong river and Mukdahan on the other side. Downside of the location is that it is an bit out of the city centre (about 1000m) .... and that the Tuk-Tuk service is not free (20.000kip). Room price is between 1800 - 4500 thb.

The rooms are of good of size and comfortable with king-size bed and all have airco, fridge, bathroom with shower only (standard room). Be aware that the cheaper promotion rooms are on the back-side of the building. The hotel has wifi, private parking and a nice swimming pool. The staff was friendly but my real disappointment was the breakfast. OK I understand that if they not have much customers (Monday) that they do not serve an buffet. But .....

We are sitting in a huge breakfast hall with about 70 tables and an empty buffet table of 20m long. On first it all looks good, but looking closer you see that the table lining is a bit dirty and the chairs are old. Then you can choose between "American breakfast" or "Continental breakfast". That is it! The orange-jus was just orange water, the fried eggs were almost not fried, the jam was cheap best-food shit and the bread was tasteless toast. And the latter is the worst as in Laos (and also in Savanakhet) you can buy fresh made French baguette that taste like heaven.

Actually I came back and the decay continued with closing the restaurant for lunch & dinner ... well at least that means that the bring you free of charge to any restaurant in the city. Due to the knowledge of the shitty breakfast we had an great breakfast at "Cafe Chef Boon". And the evening before dinner at "Dao Savan French Restaurant". See Daosavan Hotel
