Having lunch at Dao Savan Restaurant in Savanakhet, Laos

Nov'2012 Dao means star and indeed this French restaurant is the star of Savanakhet. It is in an old colonial style building in the historic down-town of Savanakhet at the old square in front of the church. It has both indoor and outdoor seating, although I am not sure if they have airco. For bigger groups they have a beautiful first floor upstairs. I had "Lamb shank" and my friend "Duck breast" and we did drink a carafe of wine. And that all for only 1100 thb. You can pay in Lao Kip, Thai baht or US$. Although the service was a bit weird, the food was the best western food I did eat in quit a while. Tasty, fresh, juicy and big!

Update March 2015 Although it looks like it is still operating as restaurant it looks like it is standing on its last legs ... it might even be closed??? Actually very sad as it is/was the best French restaurant of Savanakhet. Web-site : Dao Savan French Restaurant
