Staying at Hotels in Pakse, Laos
We had not booked any hotel in Pakse, so we had a look around the city. First we had a look at "Residence Sisouk Boutique Hotel" because we were having lunch in their restaurant next/under the hotel anyway. It is located in the city centre and build in an old French colonial building. And the renovation has been done very well. I liked it very much, but the cheaper rooms were fully booked. They do not have private parking or swimming pool. There is an small lift but I am not sure if it really works. See Residence-sisouk. They also have an resort at the bolavens plateau called "Suan Sinouk Coffee resort". See Sinoukcoffeeresort.
Then the next hotel was "Champasak Palace Hotel" on recommendation of someone we did meet at the border. And indeed he was right, the hotel was an elegant beautiful colonial style hotel. But with the accent on WAS. So we skipped it. (Tip for any big hotel chain .... here is your chance to re-create an magnificent hotel in a growing city in south Laos). As next to the previous hotel was another new looking hotel, we had a look at "Athena Hotel". This is an modern and new hotel with swimming pool and small private parking. The rooms are not so big, but comfortable and clean. And of course with airco, fridge and private bathroom. Actually it would have been a better hotel (better value for money) as the hotel we would stay that night. I would recommend this hotel and probably stay there next time. See Athena-pakse
