A Batak village in North Sumatra, Indonesia

Batak village in north Sumatra, Indonesia in 1985

Here a serie of photos from the past, called Blast From The Past. In 1985 I travelled with a friend to Sumatra (Indonesia) for 3 weeks. We did fly from Singapore to Medan, the capital place of North Sumatra. After a few days we took the bus to Brastagi, high in the mountains. We did stay a few days in Brastagi and with a local guide we did visit the famous Batak villages. They are famous for their style of houses, like you see in the middle top of this photo.
