Staying at Ang Khang Villa Hotel in Doi Ang Khang

While making a motorbike trip along the Thai - Myanmar border in 2013 I found this small hotel in the mountains of Doi Ang Khang. The resort is located in the village "Mon Pin" just 6 km from the Doi Ang Khang view point. This village is famous in Thailand for the "Royal Agricultural Project" to help the hill-tribes grow something else as poppy-fields.  And it did work very well. In the small village is a small kind of "shopping street" (behind the market) and there also is the reception of the hotel (and that of other hotels) that is build on the mountain slops of the village. So no the hotel does not have a swimming pool, but it is all about location, location and location. And that location is indeed stunning beautiful, even without seeing all the flower plantations of the Royal Project. My room was simple, but clean and with private bathroom with shower (hot water with gas). The staff was friendly and I had a good night sleep. As it was Chinese new year I was surprised to even get a room. And more surprised it was only 800thb.
