Staying at Souk Somboon Guesthouse in Chiang Khan

Hotel Reviews Thailand
Room in the new building

Nov'2013 Is it a Hotel or Guesthouse? I think the latter. A old hand of Chiang Khan, right on the riverside of the Mekong River in a authentic wooden house. Although they now also have a new building with 12 new rooms. We did stay in the new building. Nice room with beautiful wood and a small private balcony overlooking the river. The bed was comfortable and the room clean and good. Of course the room has airco, TV, fridge and a small bathroom with shower only. A perfect room, although at a walk-in rate of 1500 Thai baht (incl. ABF) even in the high-season a bit expensive. There is free wifi, private parking but no swimming pool. The hotel has a restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Staff is friendly and service minded. The private parking next to the hotel is closed and locked at night, so a perfect place to park motorbikes! I liked the room in the new building much more as the rooms in the old building where I did stay years ago. The only thing I did not really like is the small, very small bathroom.
