View over Nam Nao National Park in North-East Thailand |
Our destination for this trip was
Dan Sai, a village surrounded by mountains in Loei province. Dan Sai is famous for its yearly ghost festival
Phi Takon. Traveling from Khon Kaen we did first passed Nam Nao National Park where we stopped at the view-point & jungle market. From here you have a great view over the green mountain range of Nam Nao with a lush green jungle where still wild elephants are living. Once we arrived in Dan Sai we did first visit the
Wat Neramit Wipattasana meditation temple on a small mountain on the outskirts of Dan Sai. After that we visited the Phra That Si Song Rak chedi, what is the oldest chedi of Dan Sai. This chedi was built in 1560 by King Maha Chakrapat of Ayutthaya and King Chai Chetha of Lan Xang as a symbol of friendship between the Siamese and Lao kingdoms. Dan Sai is a lovely little town to stay for 1 night while passing Loei province. Following are some photos of out trip.
