Having lunch in Vientiane, Laos

While in Vientiane in December 2014 we did visit two old hands of restaurants, just for good the old times. First we had a pre-lunch snack at "Scandinavian Bakery" and the next day we had dinner at "Le Provencal" (French Restaurant and Pizzeria). Well both were a big mistake. At the Scandinavian Bakery it feels like you are sitting in a construction site and the food & drinks served were not that good or special.

Le Provencal still looks like the typically French restaurant and the staff is very friendly. We had a French main dish and it was not good. Actually the meat was of bad quality. My dessert was good. But I would not come back here anymore. Although maybe their pizza might be good. But pizza in a French restaurant????!!!!

Both places did give me the feeling that they are still relying on their famous past not realizing that in the meanwhile many new, nicer and better restaurants have opened their doors.
