In the old days Bangkok (Krungthep) was called the "Venice of Asia" with many canals (klongs) as transport way. Most of them have been filled up and turned into roads. But the main way of transport, the Chao Phraya is still a bustling lifeline of the city. So choose your hotel near the Chao Phraya and be part of the real Bangkok.
2. Travel over water
While you are staying near the river, make use of it and take the express boat to visit Chinea Town, Wat Arun or Wat Po.
Have dinner at one of the many local Thai restaurants along the river and enjoy a great sunset.
4. Public transport
See the modern Bangkok with high-rising buildings, make a trip with the "Skytrain" (BTS) and watch the skyline of modern Bangkok.
Go to a park in the early morning or evening and watch people do Tai-Chi.
6. What I do in Bangkok
I love dinner at one of the restaurants at Asiatique, walking in the small streets of China Town, Visit the Golden Mount, have a massage, make a klong tour.
