Preparing for a special Boat Race 2016 in Nan

To honour the King of Thailand, 50 days after his death there will be a special boat race in Nan (North Thailand) at 1 December. The village where we are living did start to practice yesterday. As they had not yet used the boat this year they first had to take the boat from the warehouse and transport it to a small lake nearby. This is where they did practice yesterday afternoon, as the water level in the Nan River near our village is too low. And it is amazing ... at a distance such a long-tail boat looks not so big but when you are standing next to it you realise it is HUGE! This boat can hold maximum of 60 people! To carry the boat by hand to the trailer the all village came in the early morning to help. What a lovely community that I am privileged to live in! So see you 1 December in Nan!
