Temples in Bangkok

Wat Arun in Bangkok, Thailand
Detail of Wat Arun in Bangkok

Reposting from 2016. Last week I was again in Bangkok for a few days and made a little tour. And although I have been at these temples at least 20 times they are still fascinating. Photo above is a detail of the world famous Wat Arun (Temple of dawn) along the Chao Phraya River. In 2013 they started to renovate this temple and it seems to be almost finished. Job well done, it looks beautiful! For more information see Wikipedia Wat Arun. The photo under is a part of the Wat Traimit in China Town that houses the famous Golden Buddha. It is said to be 3 meters high and have a weight of 5.5 solid gold. There is an interesting story about this Buddha image, for more information see Wikipedia Golden Buddha (statue)
