Road Condition update : Route 101 in Nan

Travel Tips Nan - Thailand

11 May 2017 : When traveling with your own transport (car / motorbike) be aware that there are multiple places where there are road constructions. At night or bad weather this might not be safe driving / riding.

On route 101 between Rong Kwang and Wiang Sa there are road constructions going on to expand the road. Probably from 2 lanes to 4 lanes. At the moment there are 2 sections of each 10 a 15km. But is looks like there are going to more sections of road constructions. So I would think that this will take about 6 to 12 months.

On route 101 between Hat Pla Heang and Tha Wang Pha ther road construction is now finished, only the part where route 101 crosses the Nan River (building a new bridge) is not finished yet. This is a section of about 500m and I think it will be finished within 1 month. I wonder what they will do with the old bridge? Just leave it there to collapse?

Then between Chiang Klang and Thung Chang there is also a section of about 10km with road construction going on. I would think that this will take about 6 months.

Also be aware that route 101 between Nan and Pua has been resurfaced at some sections. Some of this sections are 5km, some are 500m. But all they are done very bad and made the road for motor-bikers more dangerous (slippery and grooves). And there was nothing wrong with the old road surface.
