The Rice Field Project Part 9 : Land ready for building?

As part of Living in Thailand, the Rice Field Project follows our journey of buying land and preparing it for building our house. This is part 9, to read the other parts click Rice Field. We bought the first plot of land in September 2017. The extra plot of land was bought in November 2017.

A short update on the status of our Rice Field Project. Basically the land is now ready for start building. Except we will have to wait another 6 months before really starting to build so the sand can settle a bit.

So what has been done until now?

  • The land was made accessible from the road.
  • The land was re-surveyd and placed new chanot poles, as the old one's were lost with farming. There are 19 chanot poles!
  • The land, about 1500sqm, was raised with about 100 trucks of sand.
  • A fence of 218m long was made around the land with wooden & cement poles and bamboo.
  • A simple small sala was made.
  • Connection to the electricity system was made with 90 meter cable and 2 cement poles.
  • Electricity was connected to a electric box on the land.
  • We bought some flowers to conceal the electric box on the land.
Total costs about 167.000 Thai baht! Money flies (in the wrong direction) when you are busy.

Still to be done before building are :
  • Build 19m of 170m high wall
  • Get access to water (Public or water well or both)
Hopefully this 2 things will still be done this year (2017). This was part 9 of our ongoing Rice Field Project, to read the other parts click on the tag Rice Field.
