The Rice Field Project Part 15 : Designing our to be house

As part of Living in Thailand, the Rice Field Project follows our journey of buying land and preparing it for building our house. This is part 15, to read the other parts click Rice Field Project.

As you did read in the previous posting of our Rice Field Project we are now in the stage of designing our house with the help of a young technical designer. As said I made a floor plan and did give that to him to make a fully correct and to scale floor design. Here we did encounter a few problems :
  • As Westerner I did not think of the Thai superstition in regards of the house design. Like with doors opposite of the entrance door of the house. Or what the direction of the top of our bed would be.
  • I did not think too much about technical problems that would arise from my floor plan
  • The young technical designer is not coming with much feedback or is he thinking out of the box. And as of a few things he changed I was thinking "You must be joking?"
In the next few days we will see how we are going to continue. Maybe we were to easy & quick with deciding who to use as designer? This was part 15 of our ongoing Rice Field Project, to read the other parts click on the tag Rice Field.
