A blast from the past, traveling in South East Asia

Sulawesi, Indonesia (1998)

After traveling to South East Asia for the first time in 1985 I am now living in North Thailand and I am traveling mostly in Thailand or Laos. And sometimes in Cambodia. I even made once a side-trip to Macau. But the first time I travelled to South East Asia I travelled to Bangkok, Singapore and Sumatra in Indonesia. In the year following I would travel all over Indonesia to Sulawesi, Java, Bali, Sumatra, Banda islands and Ambon. All with the famous Pelni ships going from island to island. On the main-land I traveled from Singapore all over Malaysia to Malacca, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Georg Town. And with Thailand as central hub I traveled to Laos and Hanoi in Vietnam. Before I moved to Thailand I made a 6 weeks tour of duty to China to visit the forbidden city in Beijing, walked over the Chinese wall, did see the Terracotta Army, visited Tibetan monks in Xiahe, made a stunning overnight boat trip and did sit on the beach in Hong Kong. And besides South East Asia I also traveled to Europe. Yes I love traveling, almost like a gypsy. And although I made already some postings with photos of traveling in the old days at Blast from the Past I will try to make more posting of traveling outside Thailand. Photo above was made in 1998 in Sulawesi, Indonesia.
