Ash to ashes

As to ashes at a temple in Pattaya, Thailand

I had been to the cremation of my old friend and you might be wondering what is done with the ashes. Well the next day the family will collect the ashes and what they do with it is of course a very personal choice. It is normal to leave a part of the ash at the temple. Like you see on the photo with small houses along the temple wall. In the little house is left a part of the ashes and the little house is closed with a title with a photo of the person. Monks will have a small pagoda on the temple grounds. Then a small part of the ashes could be taken home. And another part of the ashes will be scattered on a field or the sea. The latter is of course popular in Pattaya.
