The new rice season in Nan province

New rice planted in Nan province, North Thailand

The beginning of the rice season starts of course with the raining season as the rice is growing in fields that are filled with water. Now that not works everywhere the same. Here in North Thailand the fields are filled with water from small canals that have water coming from the mountains. But they start with planting the rice on a dry field and all together on a small plot. Then the rice is replanted in another field with water. In North-East Thailand they will wait for the fields to be filled with rain water and they scatter rice seeds in the water.
