Walking along Kwan Phayao in Phayao

Traveling in North Thailand

Kwan Phayao (Kwan means swamp) is a lake created in 1935. And it is big, so no you are not going to walk around it, at least not me. The most visited part along the lake is a stretch of a few km at the south western part of the lake where are most restaurants, hotels and shops. At the south end of it is a kind of park where is sometimes a market. Then walking along the lake you will be passing a pier from where you can take a boat to an island with a half sunken temple. At the north side is an memorial park. And just north of that the government of Phayao has made an floating walking path to enjoy the view over the lake. We walked it all the way .... twice. Following are some photos I made while walking along the lake.
