Ao Keak Tub beach at Krabi in South Thailand (2016) |
Last year I did make a posting about counting
all the provinces I had been in Thailand. And I saw I have been to (stayed in) 48 provinces out of the 76. So in the coming months I will travel via my postings from the most southern province I have been to the most northern province, with some photos and information about each province. This is part 5 of the 47 (out of the 77) provinces where I have at least stayed overnight once.
Krabi province is about in the middle of South Thailand along the
Andaman Sea at the west coast of South Thailand. The capital town of Krabi province is Krabi. Krabi has no nearby train station but can be reached by bus or airplane. Krabi Airport (KBV) is just out of Krabi town and connects with Air Asia, Nok Air and Air Lion to Bangkok (DMK). And even with international flights from China, Singapore and Malaysia.
Krabi is mostly famous for its beaches like
Ao Nang and
Railay beach. And for islands like
Phi Phi Islands,
Koh Yao Yai and many other small islands. And of course for
Phang Nga Bay with mangrove forrest.
With some many beaches and mountains you would think I would have been there many times but until a few years ago I had never been there. It was in 2016 that I was there for the first time and we did stay at
Ao Tub Kaek, a small quite beach with only 4 or 5 hotels and 1 restaurant. Great place to stay if you like a quite place and can effort a luxury hotel. The next time I did stay at
Ao Nang beach, much bussier with many hotels, massage places, restaurants and even nightlife. The latter is actually not my cup of tea.
