Two days in Nan
In the morning from small town Pua in Nan province to Nan town to pickup my friends at Nan Airport, I first had a lunch at Nan Crossroads Restaurant that is serving great western food. Although on the photo you see a delicious Lamb shank, I had a beef-burger with french fried. My friends did fly from Bangkok with Air Asia and after pickup we did first check in at Namthong Nan Hotel, conveniently located near the bus station in Nan town. This is a modern, comfortable hotel with swimming pool. As it was by that time about 17:00 we had to hurry to Nom Naan Cafe along the Nan River for a stunning sunset over Nan town. Best place for sunset in Nan town! In the evening we had diner at the famous Poom 3 and we ended the evening with a drink at We Loft Pub. It was a long day so we did sleep very well and did wake-up for a breakfast at our hotel. OK the breakfast is not the best and also the coffee was not to our taste so we went to Huan Han Tor Cafe for the best coffee in Nan town. After a good coffee it was time for a trip to Pua, and we did take the tourist route via route 1169 and 1081. This route goes thru small villages and mountains. And there is much less traffic. Along the way we made a short drink stop at one of the coffee shops along route 1169, where is was busy with people making selfies with the stunning view over the mountains. After a drink and photos we continued our trip but by that time it was lunch time and as we were passing the best som tam restaurant of Nan there was no way of not having lunch there. Besides a very spicy som tom and we did eat delicious Kai Yang. It amazing how many people come to this som tam restaurant in a small village in the middle of nowhere.
After lunch it was finally time to go to the final destination for the second day, Pua De View Boutique Resort on the edge of Pua town with stunning view and an infinity swimming pool. After a rest at the hotel we had a sundowner beer at Pink Corner between the rice fields of Pua and again a stunning view over the mountains of Doi Phu Kha. Although Pua is a small town, there are plenty of restaurants to choos, although most of course serving Thai food only. We ended the day at Seeds Pub with live music and some beers.
