On the motorbike for another day trip in Nan province
Nan province is motorbike riding heaven and as long as it is still cool I take every chance I have to make another ride. It is a kind of therapy for me. So I left at about 6:45am and took route 1081 from Pua in direction of Sila Phet and Santisuk. Then I made a side-tour into the mountains of Doi Phu Kha and continued on route 1081 in direction of Bo Klua, but half way I took route 1257 to Santisuk. From Santisuk I took route 1225 and 1168 to Mae Charim. From Mae Charim I followed route 1243 in direction of Bo Bia, with the intention to take half way a short-cut to route 1083 to go to Na Noi. But that short-cut (no road number on Google Maps) was not my kind of road to ride alone and on a road-bike. I tried it for 1 km and then made a u-turn. But there I was all the way down and the only way not going to Bo Bia was to ride back again until route 1162 to Wiang Sa. Route 1162 is partly under construction but mostly a beautiful brand new roller-coaster road. And then from Wiang Sa back to Nan town for a late lunch at Viola Nirvanan Restaurant. And then taking the scenic route back to Pua via Santisuk (route 1169 & 1081). Following are some photos I made and at the end are maps & links to the route I did ride. Additional road information : All roads are in good condition although according Thai standards you might be careful are some places might be gravel. Especially route 1257 & 1243 are a bit more gravel and even pot-holes.
Stops along the ways : I had my typically biker breakfast at the 7-11 in Mae Charim, stopped at local shops for a drink and made a last pit-stop at a เดอะวิว@กิ่วม่วง along route 1169.
