Visiting Sala Keoku Buddha Park in Nong Khai

Traveling in Thailand

In 2008 I visited Sala Keoku in Nong Khai for the first time. The building of the park started in 1978 under the guiding hand of Luang Phu Bunleua Sulilat who did also build the famous Buddha park Xiang Khuan nearby Vientiane (Laos). I think it is best described as a Buddhist sculpture park to teach the ordinary people about the values of live and Buddhism. Any yes it is a really amazing park with sculpture high as 20 meters and of most beautiful handcraft. With "Heaven and Hell" and more weird sculptures of and man & women living their live together and ending as a skeleton sitting together. But also bizarre sculpture of dragons and snakes. You could spend here 1 to 2 hours. Sala Keoku is located just outside (east) Nong Khai city, easy to be reached by Tuk Tuk.

One night in Bangkok and the world is your oyster

The journey of Traveling 2 Thailand did begin with One Night in Bangkok in 1985 and since 2009 it became a personal non-commercial travel blog as inspiration for traveling & motorbike riding in Thailand. Made just for the sheer love of traveling and sharing experience about traveling in South-East Asia. To travel beyond the beaten track & highlights. Enjoy!
