Staying at Souk Somboon Guesthouse in Chiang Khan

Hotel Reviews Thailand

In November 2013 I did stay at Souk Somboom Guesthouses in Chiang Khan. Is it a Hotel or Guesthouse? I think the latter. Souk Somboon Guesthouse is an old hand of Chiang Khan, right on the riverside of the Mekong River in an authentic wooden house. Although they now also have a new building with 12 new rooms. We did stay in the new building. Nice room with beautiful wood and a small private balcony overlooking the river. The bed was comfortable and the room clean and good. Of course the room has airco, TV, fridge and a small bathroom with shower only. A perfect room, although at a walk-in rate of 1500 Thai baht (incl. ABF) even in the high-season a bit expensive. There is free wifi, private parking but no swimming pool. The hotel has a restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Staff is friendly and service minded. The private parking next to the hotel is closed and locked at night, so a perfect place to park motorbikes! I liked the room in the new building much more as the rooms in the old building where I did stay years ago. The only thing I did not really like is the small, very small bathroom.

One night in Bangkok and the world is your oyster

The journey of Traveling 2 Thailand did begin with One Night in Bangkok in 1985 and since 2009 it became a personal non-commercial travel blog as inspiration for traveling & motorbike riding in Thailand. Made just for the sheer love of traveling and sharing experience about traveling in South-East Asia. To travel beyond the beaten track & highlights. Enjoy!
