6 months traveling in South East Asia

Traveling in Thailand

People ask me sometimes "How did you get in Thailand?" and I answer "By airplane". But in reality it was a bit more complex, so I did write some postings about that. It all started in 1985 with traveling to Thailand and in 1997 we took a sabbatical year and travelled for 6 months in South East Asia. Of course we made a lot of planning, but in the end we just did what did looked best at that moment. Actually the plan was to travel for 1 year, but after 6 months we did get the travel blues and returned home. We started in Bangkok and did travel to Vientiane and Luang Prabang in Laos. Then we travelled to Hanoi and Halong Bay in Vietnam. Then we returned back to Bangkok again to travel to Penang, KL and Malacca in Malaysia. From there we made a stop-over in Singapore to travel to Sumatra, Java, Bali, Sulawesi and Ambon in Indonesia. Again via Singapore we returned to Bangkok to travel to Kanchanaburi, Koh Samui, Lopburi, Lampang, Sukhothai and Chiang Mai. Following is small selection of photos of traveling in 1997 & 1998 in South East Asia.

One night in Bangkok and the world is your oyster

The journey of Traveling 2 Thailand did begin with One Night in Bangkok in 1985 and since 2009 it became a personal non-commercial travel blog as inspiration for traveling & motorbike riding in Thailand. Made just for the sheer love of traveling and sharing experience about traveling in South-East Asia. To travel beyond the beaten track & highlights. Enjoy!
