As inspiration for traveling in Thailand, follow me getting lost in Bangkok while making a sightseeing walk in China town. Photo above was shot at the end of my afternoon walk when I had drink & bite at "In Love Restaurant" along the Chao Phraya River. I love traveling on or sitting along the Chao Phraya River. And this restaurant is at a stunning location with magnificent view over the Rama VIII bridge. But how did I get there? Well it was actually a kind 'Getting Lost" walk. I took the MRT (subway) to Hua Lumphon train station and from there I started to walk in direction of the river and China Town.
No planning, just walking along the many Chinese shops and markets along the road. So I ended at Express-boat pier at the "Marine Department" and took the Express-boat in direction of the "Thawet" pier. But I stopped on the way for some sight-seeing at the "Tha Maharaj" pier where is a kind of (new) community mall with restaurants, shops and coffee shops. After a refreshing stop-over I continued to the "Phra Arhit" pier near Khao San road. While walking there I was really surprised about the kind of people going there and sitting there in a totally non-Thai environment eating non-Thai food. But well each to each own idea of a happy holiday. From there I did partly walk all the way to "In Love Restaurant" (what a terrible name). And enjoyed a cool breeze and beautiful sunset over the Chao Phraya while having drink & bite and talking with an old friend.
