Along Mahaprom road in the historical center of Nan town you will find this old wooden house, named the Khum Chao Thep Mala House. The name is a reference to the name of the family who did build the house. The current owners of the house are descendants of that family. In the prime time of this building it must have been a beautiful Grand Lady but now the house is in despair and in desperate need of some Tender, Love & Care. The house is said to be more as 100 years old. The word is that since the owner died medio 2000 the children are arguing what to do with it. But is seems they not have the money to restore this Grand Old Lady. Hopefully someday the government will help out and invest some tax money in preserving the history of Nan town. Following are some more photos, also from the said to be interior of The Khum Chao Thep Mala House. For more information about Nan province see Destination Travel Guide Nan.
When visiting this location be aware that it is private property and normally not open to the public. Entering the house would be trespassing!
