Traveling by train in Cambodia

Train station Phnom Penh, Cambodia

The two main places people visit in Cambodia are Phnom Penh and Siem Reap and in much less way people travel to places like Sihanoukville, Kampot, Battambang, Ban Lung and Monorom. So how to travel within Cambodia? Well there are limited domestic flights, most will be to Siem Reap and Sihanoukville. Then of course you can travel by bus, car, taxi or motorbike over land by road. But before the disaster of the Khmer Rouge there was an intensive railway system in Cambodia. And luckily that is slowly coming back, albeit still like train traveling in old days. And I love that, slow traveling to encounter the real live of a country. So for my to come journey over land in Cambodia I did some research about train traveling. And train traveling it will be! For more information have a look at Royal Railways Cambodia with trains between Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. So of course in the following weeks you can expect photos of traveling by train in Cambodia.

And since 10 April 2018 once you arrive at Phnom Penh Airport you can take the train to the city. For more information see Phnom Penh Post : The Airport Train.
