One day & night on a Chinese Junk in Halong Bay, Vietnam

Traveling in Vietnam

August 2019, as part of 3 weeks in Vietnam I booked a 1 day & 1 night cruise in Halong Bay. From hectic Hanoi city I took the bus in the early morning via the new highway to Haipong where I embarked on a so called "Chinese Junk" (actually just a cruise ship) for a luxury 1 day & 1 night tour of Halong Bay. The first time that I was here was 22 years ago. And holy cow things have changed! A tsunami of Chinese & Korean tourists is flooding Halong Bay with boats. I booked an all inclusive 1 day & 1 night tour with Glory Legend Cruises and around 12:00 our "Chinese Junk" left the harbour and all people on board, included me, were served a delicious lunch while steaming in direction of Halong Bay. While exploring Halong Bay we did visit a pearl farm on the sea, a cave on one of the islands, an overcrowded beach and we were of course served dinner, breakfast and a last lunch. Service was outstanding at the ship and the staff was always smiling and helpful. My room was small but comfortable with private bathroom with shower. Following is a serie of photos I took while in Halong Bay, Vietnam.

The World Is My Oyster

It all began with One Night in Bangkok in 1985 and since 2009 it became a personal non-commercial travel blog as inspiration for traveling & motorbike riding in Thailand. Made just for the sheer love of traveling and sharing experience about traveling in South-East Asia. To travel beyond the beaten track & highlights. Enjoy!
