How to get to Song Kwae?

Song Kwae is about 77 km from Nan town :
  • By public transport take the inter provincial bus to Chiang Rai and get out at Song Kwae
  • By private car or motorbike take route 101 to Tha Wang Pha and then take a left to route 1148 to Chiang Rai. Route 1148 is going thro Song Kwae.

What to do in Song Kwae?

Song Kwae is not a tourist destination, you will be passing it going to Chiang Rai. Although about 25 km north from Song Kwae village is a local Thai-Lao border where once a week is a border market.

As Song Kwae is not a tourist destination you will only find some local restaurants and 1 coffee shop. Since 2020 there is also a 7-11.
