The full name is Chivit Thamma Da Coffee House, Bistro & Cafe and it is located right along the Kok River in Chiang Rai. And indeed a long name but rightly so because it is a bistro / restaurant but is is also a coffee shop and it is also a cafe. And housed in 2 romantic old style houses with a tropical garden setting. With an extensive range of coffee & tea, wine (also by the glass) and other stronger spirits and delicious western & Thai food. Upon entering Chivit Thamma Da Coffee House the wonderful staff stands out with their service minded style and smile and make you feel home.
We were seated in the tropical garden (mind the mosquitos at sunset time) and although it was busy staff came within a few minutes with free drinking water and the menu. We started with a Blue Berry Cheese Cake for my wife and a Creme Brule for me. And of course I did steal some cake. And it was delicious, not too heavy and not too sweet. The Creme Brule was also delicious although it would have been nice if the sugar coated top would still be warm (or better flambé at the table). We did drink a pot an Early Grey tea with it. While enjoying the sunset we ordered a glass of red wine for my wife and for me a Amaretto served straight. The financial damage was about 740 baht but our gastronomic gain was much more.
