Despite the fact that the Thai government is relaxing the measures against the spreading of Corona the reality shows (see photo above) that there are actually in Thailand not much reasons to relax the measures agains Corona. At least not for me, but I might be crazy. The number of confirmed covid19 cases is again still rising and also the numbers of deaths are still rising. And there is no reason to assume that this is going to change soon.
The photo above is the Corona Update Thailand 17 March 2022 and it shows that 25.456 people were confirmed to have covid19. OK I must say that there are much more tests done and for some reason it seems that this number also includes people tested positive with ATK tests. It also shows that 77 people died of covid19 en that there are 65.207 people in a hospital of what 1.402 people are at ICU and 504 people on ventilators. That are numbers to worry about because it is overstretching the hospitals, especially in Bangkok.
The photo above also shows that 70% of the people in Thailand did get 2 vaccin and that only about 35% of the people did get a third vaccin (booster). My wife did get first a Sinovac, then a Astrazeneca and 8 weeks ago a third vaccin (booster) with pfizer. All free of charge and all in our local hospital. I did get my first & second pfizer vaccin in Nan hospital complementary by a gift of the USA. And I did just receive my third pfizer vaccin (booster) in our local hospital. All free of charge.
But also here upcountry in Nan province the numbers are rising. Photo below shows the Corona Update of Nan province on 17 March 2022. There were 235 new confirmed covid19 cases of what 271 were ATK tested. Mind you that is a high number as in totaal for the all Corona crisis (in 2 years now) there were only 6.889 covid19 cases in Nan province. It also shows that on 17 March 1 person died of covid19, again this is a "high" number for Nan province as in totaal for the all Corona crisis "only" 9 people died 9 due to covid19 in Nan province. Mind you, there are only 2 real government hospitals in Nan province (no private hospitals) and even they are limited in service options. So medical care is limited in Nan province.
So I do not understand the optimism about relaxing the measures against the spreading of covid19. You would almost think that governments worldwide have decided that it is no longer economically feasible to keep the strict measures agains covid19. And it seems to me that the government of Thailand is doing likewise. It seems to me that things that were true when covid19 was spreading over the all world are now suddenly not true anymore.
